On the international scene, we have the second leg of the Spingboks women’s tour of Fiji and this time, Amber McLachlan (pictured top left) takes over the whistle in Lautoka. Paul Williams referees the second of the Aus v Japan ties after last weekend’s 35-32 scoreline in what was Les Kiss’ first match as head coach. The other international sees USA hosting an Argentina XV in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. France’s Jeremy Rozier (top right) referees that one.
In New Zealand, the Heartland Championship kicks off for a new season, joining the NPC in this week’s appointments. In the NPC, there are two notable milestones. James Doleman (bottom left) brings up his 200th first class appointment, and Maggie Cogger-Orr (top right) becomes the first NZ female referee to bring up 100 first class 15’s appointments – congrats to both.
Elsewhere, Nika Amashukeli referees the final All Blacks warm up before the first RGR test, with the Bulls hoping for dryer conditions than they saw at the Sharks on Tuesday. We also have an international u18 competition, Currie Cup and Women’s Super League action across South Africa. Once again, we have the Championship match officials from Finland, and there’s a Eng/Wales cross-border pre-season friendly in Bristol who host the Ospreys. Harry Walbaum whistles that one.
