It’s the opening test match of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry with Matthew Carley (pictured top left) opening events at Ellis Park. There’s a midweek match too when Angus Gardner whistles the All Blacks match against the Lions. In Auckland, it’s the cross-Tasman women’s international with the Laurie O’Reilly Cup up for grabs. Maggie Cogger-Orr (top right) takes charge of that – the Black Ferns against the Wallaroos.
On the domestic front, there’s another round of NPC and Heartlands with Angus Mabey (bottom right) getting a run out at Bay of Plenty as they host Taranaki. There’s Currie Cup action in South Africa scheduled around the test match. Up in Europe, there’s the first of a series of 7s festival days where teams from Poland, the Netherlands, Czechia join a developmental Germany team – three matches this weekend. This one is hosted in Frankfurt, so the officials will all be from Germany, including Maria Latos (bottom left). An interesting concept to keep an eye on. My source in Germany tells me it’s being streamed in RugbyPassTV if you want to tune in! There’s also some pre-season matches in England and a couple of matches in Finland.
