As part of a new elite match official strategic plan, World Rugby is moving towards an enhanced coaching and performance analysis approach to growing the current and next generation of match officials. As part of that, they’re recruiting for four new job opportunities.

The four roles that will aim to grow the current and next generation of match officials operating at the world stage of the women’s and men’s game. There’s a head coach role for each of the men’s and women’s elite match officials teams; a Women’s pathway development coach, and a pathway and future talent ID manager role. They will all liaise with, and collaborate with, the referee managers across all World Rugby’s member Unions to identify, attract and develop referees throughout the pathway.

The two dedicated Women’s roles will report into Alhambra Nievas, head of elite women’s officiating. The men’s coach roles and talent ID role will report through to Phil Davies as Director of Rugby who has overall responsibility for match officials and the new World Rugby match official strategy, and to Joel Jutge as head of elite men’s refereeing.

Deadline for applications: Wednesday 6 December 2023
