Wayne Barnes is the referee for the biggest game this weekend. The world top two teams Ireland and France, will be refereed by arguably the best referee out there too. After a cracking start to the Six Nations, with no real big refereeing talking points, Messrs Barnes, Brace (Sco v Wal) and Doleman (Eng v Ita) will be hoping for more of the same.
As well as the men’s competition, we have the Angus Mabey (NZ), Reuben Keane (Aus) and Ben Breakspear (Wal) in action in the u20s competition. In Europe, there’s five Rugby Europe Championship matches with an all female team of three on the Germany v Spain men’s match. Italy’s Clara Munarini (top right) continues the drive of having the leading female referees on duty following Hollie Davidson refereeing the Portugal match last weekend. There’s also an important match in Asia as Iran play Qatar in the UAE for a spot in Division 2. The host nation provide the referee too with Jaco de Wit in charge.
Sara Cox and Hamish Smales referee the two Premiership Cup semi finals this weekend, and there’s three Premier 15s matches and a full list in the RFU Championship too. We have the ProD2 round up with Aurelie Groizeleau (bottom right) on duty this weekend in SW Paris.
And our friends in the south are getting back out on the field ahead of the start of the season. There’s a handful of Super Rugby warm up matches, with Marcus Playle (bottom left) overseeing the Chiefs v Moana Pasifika friendly.
