1-4 December: Weekend referees, AR & TMO appointments roundup

All the weekend referees, ARs and TMOs around the rugby world for you. All the usual names in play, but often in odd places!

As part of the build-up to the EPCR window in Europe, there is a wide exchange programme for referees and TMOs taking place this weekend across the domestic leagues. Those involved have a chance to use and test out the technologies and environments in other countries, before the Champions and Challenge cups kick off next week.

One referee not part of that is Ben Blain (pic top left) who referees in the URC down in South Africa. Switching Scotland/Cumbrian temperatures for Pretoria is quite the change!

Speaking of warm weather rugby, the World Sevens Series starts again in Dubai. Kat Roche (top right) is back in the middle in the women’s tournament. Congrats go to Francesco Cammisa (bottom left) who makes his debut in the Hong Kong Premiership as DAC Kowloon host the Kroll USRC Tigers, and to Fiona and Peter Brunt (bottom right) who, we believe, become the first parent/child combo to run touch in the top leagues in England. Fiona’s been involved in the #INSPIRE campaign we’ve pushed over the autumn, while Peter makes exceedingly good cakes for match officials he works with (as well as being an excellent referee and AR around the country) – go well Team Brunt at Bristol Bears Women. Also, good luck to Shota Tezvadze from Georgia and Federico Vedovelli (Italy) who will referee the semi-finals of the Rugby Europe Super Cup!
