Weekly referee appointments – RWC, Pro14, England, Scotland, France, NZ and Australia

Well, what a week. Twelve Rugby World Cup 2019 matches, one red card (eventually), three citings, two 3 week bans so far, and a lot of angst around high tackles and sanctions! Don’t you just love international rugby!?! And we’re only just getting warmed up. All the week’s upcoming appointments are below.

But we also see the return of the Pro14 this week, with Greg Garner’s band of merry referees getting back out across the four nations involved. Dan Jones of Wales kicks things off in Bloemfontein as the Cheetahs play Glasgow. For the first time, we bring you the Scottish top level appointments (thanks SRU for sending them) and we have the usual round up from around England, France and Australia.

Here’s hoping for a quieter, less contentious week ahead for all match officials!

Enjoy!

  1. Who apart from Alan Roland sits on the panel? Only one Samoan banned for three weeks?

    • You’re mixing up refereeing with disciplinary. Alain Rolland doesn’t sit on any discipline panel, and two Samoan’s were banned, both for three weeks. The same panel heard Rey Lee-Lo and Motu Matu’u’s citing cases – both chaired by Wang Shao Ing (Singapore lawyer and former international player) with former international players John Langford (Australia) and Olly Kohn (Wales). Interesting to note that Matu’u’s one was the one that everyone thought was a stone cold red card, wasn’t agreed unanimously at all by the panel- judgement offered on a 2:1 majority.
