It’s pre-Six Nations weekend and plenty of referee appointments to raise an eyebrow as a lot of the southern hemisphere referees pick up games in the northern leagues as warm ups. But the top appointment of the week goes to Mary Pringle (top left) who referees the final of Scotland’s Women’s Premiership. Go well Mary!
Around the usual other leagues we have a URC debut for New Zealand’s James Doleman (top right) as he is in Edinburgh who host the Sharks. His compatriot Paul Williams is in Connacht for his second URC match. In France, I’m assuming that the two TBCs in the Top 14 might be filled by either Gus Gardner, Nic Berry, or Ben O’Keeffe – all of whom are in Europe ahead of 6N duties. Will confirm if I can narrow it down. [Edit – updated. Was right on all 3 bring in play in Top 14 and ProD2]
Tom Foley (bottom left) has double duties this weekend in the Gallagher Premiership – TMOing at Sale before strapping his boots on at Exeter on Saturday tea time. They will be testing the new shot clocks for penalties and conversions this weekend – one to keep an eye on!
And as the Kiwi’s have borrowed the URC refereeing slots, we have URC regulars elsewhere – Craig Evans is on Welsh Premiership duties at Swansea RFC with Ben Whitehouse another with a doubling-up weekend – refereeing Welsh Premiership in Bridgend on Sat before heading into the English Premiership as TMO for the London Irish v Quins match.
All that aside, we also have the Ref Squads at the World Rugby 7s series in Sydney, and the rest of the Top 14 and ProD2 referee, ARs and TMOs for you. There’s also teams of three in the Scottish men’s Premiership too.
