After an about-turn in the summer test series results last week, Matt Carley, Paul Williams, Wayne Barnes and Ben O’Keeffe (bottom right) are in charge of the final round of matches. But one of the most important games is Colorado as the USA take on Chile in the second leg of the RWC23 Qualifier. After a monsoon in Santiago last week which saw the teams finish just a point apart, the temps look set to be in the mid 30s in Glendale. Good for Luke Pearce’s tan, no doubt! The winner takes the Americas 2 spot in Pool D alongside England, Japan, Argentina and Samoa.
In a weekend of big results, one that was overlooked by many was in Tiblisi where Georgia beat Italy. They’ll be looking to finish their summer series with a win against Portugal. England’s Adam Leal (top right), steps up to the international scene to referee the match.
We welcome back the Farah Palmer Cup referees this weekend as domestic league action returns in New Zealand. Natarsha Ganley (pic bottom left) returns for her first FPC match since 2019. In what we think is a first for this site (sorry if I’m wrong!), we have a married referee couple in charge of different games. Larissa Woolerton overseas the Fiji Women v Samoa Women test match, and husband Ben will have Farah Palmer Cup action too. Good luck both!
