It’s 1 July, and that means all the law changes that were approved by World Rugby Council in May come into play today.
But what exactly has changed? The document, issued by World Rugby, below shows all the detailed information.
- All the Global Law Trials from last season move into full law
- Two new GLTs – scrum brakefoot, and restrictions on medics/water carriers
- Some minor wording where there have had to be a formal clarifications in law
- Minor amends following player and match officials feedback
- Updated TMO protocol for XVs and 7s
If you have the World Rugby laws app, they’re already updated and showing (in 11 languages), but the doc below shows all the detail about exactly what has changed.
World Rugby operate on a four-year law review cycle, and they say that, urgent player welfare issues aside, there will be no more changes in law ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
