With rugby beginning to return around the globe, we have a fuller list of referee appointments for you this week. There’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers of differing kinds. In Colorado, Canada take a 34-21 lead into leg two of their series. Mike Adamson takes charge for the second weekend running. The team who scores the most aggregate points will become top seed for North America and will play Uruguay — the top seed for South America — in another home and away series in Oct. The winner of that will qualify as Americas 1. The losers will face Chile to determine placings for the next stage of qualification in 2022.
In the women’s game, there’s a round robin series to determine the European qualifiers for next year’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Scotland, Italy, Ireland and Spain will play each other over the next few weeks in Parma. France’s Aurelie Groizeleau referees the opening match as Scotland play Italy. It’s round 4 of the Rugby Championship with Luke Pearce and Nic Berry joining up with the squads in the Australian Gold Coast.
In South Africa, Marius van der Westhuizen referees his second Currie Cup Final as the Bulls play the Sharks in Pretoria. Good luck to him and his match officials team.
As well as all those, we have domestic action in Scotland (now adding the men’s and women’s Premiership appointments to the usual Super 6s) and theres Top 14 and ProD2 in France. Plenty to keep us all occupied this weekend!
