The summer sees a variety of women’s rugby around the world.
A new Women’s Rugby Super Series involving the five best teams in the world – New Zealand, England, France, Canada and the USA – has kicked off in San Diego. And in keeping with the high-class nature of the teams, the leading female referees are all in town too. The round robin tournament kicked off last weekend with Joy Neville and Sara Cox overseeing round one. Hollie Davidson (Scotland), Rebecca Mahoney (New Zealand), Aimee Barrett-Theron (South Africa) and Amy Perrett (Australia) are also stateside.
Australasia
World Rugby has also outlined the lead officials in a summer international series where Australia will play Japan and New Zealand, both twice. Aurélie Groizeleau (France, pic right), Hollie Davidson (Scotland) and Aimee Barrett-Theron (South Africa) will take charge of the matches.
African WRWC Qualifiers
In August, Johannesburg will accommodate four nations in a play-off series to identify the African qualifiers for the Women’s Rugby World Cup. South Africa, the hosts are joined by Uganda, Madagascar and Kenya. Referees from SA, Zimbabwe and Uganda will oversee matters.
