Advantage Over podcast – Episode 6 – Craig Joubert talks 7s refereeing

Last week, we caught up with Craig Joubert, minutes after he came off the field at Twickenham having refereed his 200th, and final, World Rugby 7s fixture and thereby ending his international refereeing career. Having turned 40 last November, Craig now moves on to give his World Rugby Referee Talent Development Coach role, his 100% attention.
In the podcast, we cover
  • His plans for his role and the role of WR in developing future talent
  • The pathway for 7s officials
  • The benefits of bringing the men’s and women’s 7s circuits together!
  • The rise in former players turning to the whistle
  • His advice for anyone wanting to get into refereeing – do it for the right reasons!
  • We also look back at his 15 year career, and look forward to his final match this weekend.

Thanks Craig, for joining us on the podcast this week.
