After last week’s shock (?) result in Wellington, New Zealand will be trying to get back on track with the second of back-to-back tests with Argentina. Italian referee, Andrea Piardi (pictured top left) will make his TRC reffing debut at Eden Park. In Perth, Paul Williams (top right) rotates from AR to referee as the Wallabies look to reverse their defeat by the Springboks. In Shizuoka, Jess Ling (bottom left) will referee the second of the Japan v USA WXV warm up matches. Match one, last weekend, ended in a 17 all draw.
In South Africa, the Currie Cup keeps on flowing with familiar SARU refs being joined by Irish official, Peter Martin, who’s getting some pre-season game time in too. Speaking of Ireland, the women’s interprovincial’s started last weekend (missed them, so didn’t include the list last week.) Round two this week in Ulster and Munster. We’re hoping the IRFU have some female officials coming through the system for future rounds/comps.
In New Zealand, the Heartlands Championship joining the NPC and Farah Palmer Cup on the list below. Special tip of the hat to Sam Adam (bottom right) who makes his first class debut in the FPC match with Northland hosting the Bay of Plenty. He joins Tiana Anderson and Ben Alexander who referee the other two FPC Premiership matches.
And finally, Sunday’s NPC game between Counties Manukau and Waikato, will see Ben O’Keeffe officiate his 222nd 15’s first class game. This Surpasses, Paddy O’Brien’s 221 15’s games, a record that stood since 2005. Nice one BOK!
