Asia Rugby has announced the appointment of Dilroy Fernando as their new Match Official Manager, and Peter Hudson who becomes Match Official Performance Panel Coach.
In his new capacity, the Sri Lankan, Dilroy will oversee the logistics of match official operations, maintain comprehensive databases of officials, coaches, and performance reviewers, and ensure strict adherence to budgetary guidelines. He will manage the nominations and appointments process, support performance reviews, and serve as a crucial liaison with team coaches and management on refereeing and law matters. Additionally, he will play a significant role in the development of male and female match officials and coaches, organising online courses and discussions to promote continuous improvement ensuring Asia Rugby principles and values. He replaces George Danapal who recently ended his role as Match Officials Development Consultant.
Dilroy’s was a national rugby player for Sri Lanka during the mid-1980s, before extensive service as a referee, coach, and match commissioner at both domestic and international levels. He has been an integral part of the Asia Rugby competitions, having served as a referee, coach of match officials, and performance reviewer. His international experience includes delivering World Rugby accredited courses in over 20 countries.
Performance Coach
Hudson, new Panel Performance Coach, will assume responsibility for establishing a comprehensive review platform, developing innovative performance structures, and managing feedback processes to enhance the performance of match officials, as well as become liaison point with teams, support the Talent Optimisation process, and assist in the selection and appointment of officials while also organise training sessions and support the Match Officials Manager at events.

Global performance
