It’s the final weekend of the 2023 TikTok Women’s Six Nations and Aimee Barrett-Theron (pic top right) will join a record 55,000+ others at Twickenham where the Grand Slam will be decided as England host France. WXV is a new three-tier international women’s comp coming along in October, and all positions in the W6N have something riding on them. W6N table finishers 1-3 will be in WXV Group 1. The team placing fourth will enter WXV 2 with the sixth-placed team automatically going into WXV 3. The fifth-placed team will face a play-off against Spain, the Rugby Europe Women’s Championship 2023 winners, to determine which one goes to 2 and which to WXV3. Simples. But these comps will be another key way to bring through refereeing talent as well. One to keep an eye on.
Sticking with the key women’s fixtures this week,; in the South, it’s Super W semi-finals. Amber McLachlan has one of them, with Tyler Miller (bottom left) in charge of the other. In the men’s SR world, James Doleman (bottom right) referees his 25th Super game at the Hurricanes in Wellington and Angus Gardner has the blockbuster Chiefs v Crusaders in Waikato.
In the north, it’s the semi-finals of the European Cups. Jaco Peyper (top left) and Wayne Barnes will referee the Champions Cup games with Karl Dickson and Mathieu Raynal having the Challenge Cup equivalents.
