After a quiet spell, things are starting to ramp up towards October! The Rugby Championship kicks off this weekend – a shortened tournament this year – and the referees are all where they need to be. Paul Williams will add his 11th international cap as he kicks the tournament off with the Springboks hosting the Wallabies in Johannesburg. Angus Gardner heads east (for him) to Buenos Aires as the Jaguars host the All Blacks. This weekend will be the first with the new scrum law and the revised high tackle/shoulder charge framework. Keep your eyes on both!
In Sydney, Australia ladies host Japan with Aurélie Groizeleau from France overseeing matters. In South Africa, the Currie Cup continues with some familiar names in charge around the Cape.
Next week, we’re hoping to bring you news from the RWC camp and maybe even the first batch of appointments.
Enjoy the international window!
