Keith Hendricks, former top referee has replaced incumbent Steve Meintjes as chairman of the South African Referees’ Association.
The Referees Association is the 14 chairmen plus executive members.
The other candidates for the Association chairmanship were the incumbent Steve Meintjes of the Golden Lions and Steve Britz of the Pumas.
Mr Hendricks, of Boland Association is the principal of Swartberg Primary School in Caledon and in his day a top referee.
Hendricks’ election brings to an end a 14 year reign by Meintjes.
The new deputy chairman is Christo van Heerden of the Leopards, a Potchefstroom schoolmaster who beat off the challenge of Douglas Holwill of Western Province, formerly the chairman of the Western Province Referees’ Society.
The vice-man is Mnininzi Plaatjie – vice chairman, who retains his position.
