Orville Fernando elected as Sri Lanka referees’ head

20130114-063022.jpgThe Sri Lanka Sunday Times reports that veteran referee and long serving committee member Orville Fernando has been elected uncontested as president of the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Union of Referees at its 60th Annual General Meeting.

The AGM meeting was attended by a large section of its members and the following were elected uncontested. S.W. Chang and Metha Abeygunwardena were elected as vice presidents. Dinka Peires and Shamrtah Fernando were re-elected as secretary and treasurer respectively.

Major Upali Kotuwegedera, Gerald Rasiah and Fazly Razack are the committee members with Chula Dharmadasa remains the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union representative.

Mr Fernando preciously played for St. Peter’s College and Havelocks Sports Club.
